Why We Exist

At Preserving Montana, we are dedicated to protecting access to Montana’s 55 state parks, 8 national parks, and the abundant wildlife that make this region so unique. Our mission is to ensure that the Montana we know today remains untouched, wild, and available for exploration for years to come. We’re fighting for open spaces, clean water, and the preservation of Montana’s incredible wildlife, so that future generations can experience it as we do now—and will always be able to.

Through education, advocacy, and action, we’re building a community that’s passionate about protecting Montana’s pristine wilderness. By joining our cause, you become part of a national movement to preserve the natural beauty of this region. Whether you’re hiking the rugged trails of Yellowstone or marveling at the wildlife in Big Sky Country, we believe everyone should have the chance to explore Montana’s natural wonders.

Preserving The Great Outdoors

Robert Marshall

Wilderness Activist

There is just one hope for repulsing the tyrannical ambition of civilization to conquer every inch on the whole earth. That hope is the organization of spirited people who will fight for the freedom and preservation of the wilderness."

Theodore Roosevelt

26th President

There is a delight in the hardy life of the open. There are no words that can tell the hidden spirit of the wilderness that can reveal its mystery, its melancholy and its charm. The nation behaves well if it treats the natural resources as assets which it must turn over to the next generation increased and not impaired in value. Conservation means development as much as it does protection."

George M. Wright

Naturalist

But our national heritage is richer than just scenic features; the realization is coming that perhaps our greatest national heritage is nature itself, with all its complexity and its abundance of life, which, when combined with great scenic beauty as it is in the national parks, becomes of unlimited value. This is what we would attain in the national parks."
